Why Do I Write Poetry?

 It began when I was an elementary school student. I read Sundanese poetry in front of other students when our school had iftar together. I still remember how I feel nervous that day. And that's just a little step. After that, I hear that my grandma has posted her poetry in the newsletter when she was young. That makes me feel excited to try to make poetry. Actually, I was more excited to make a short story or a novel even it's not really good, but I was excited to write the story.

I don't know what exactly was my first original poetry. But I remember when I in junior high school, we have a seminar about authorship or something like that, and I got a gift from the speaker because I try to make poetry and he likes it.

After that, I made some poetry in my note. But, when there is a poetry competition, I became discouraged because I lose it. 

Then, when I in the first grade of senior high school, my sister gave me a poster of the poetry competition, and I try it, but I lose again. Then I try, and I try, try again, and always try. Free competition, paid competition I try. Some of my poetries are released at an anthology of the competitions I have been in. Until one day, I got a surprising announcement that my poetry won second place. I became more excited. after that I try the other competition, sometimes good things happen, and sometimes nothing happens, wkwk. But I learn how to accept losing and to never give up.

After that, I join a community that makes me have to post poetry every Monday and we will giving advice to each other. And I learn again, I learn to accepting other opinions and accepting criticism. And I learn a lot.

I know my poetry isn't really good, and I know everyone has their favorite kind of poetry. But for me, I like to speak through my poetry, I like to share my feelings and my experients through my poetry. And I enjoy it, no matter will someone likes my poetry or no, but I like poetry, write poetry, and speak through poetry. Thank you.
